Getting Here

To Shetland

There are two main ways into beautiful Shetland when you are on your way to stay in one of our cosy cottages or westside bed & breakfast. Of course, the only two ways are by sky or sea.

Sumburgh Airport

Shetland’s main airport is in Sumburgh at the most southerly tip of the mainland. There are direct flights daily from Edinburgh, Glasgow & Aberdeen with connections to all of the UK’s main airports. This makes getting to and from Shetland is a lot easier than many think.

You can find out more by visiting the HIAL website.

North Link Ferries

Leaving the Aberdeen port every day of the week, Northlink Ferries provides travellers with a comfortable overnight sailing onboard the sea link to the north. Onboard, you will find lounges & bars, self-service and a la carte restaurants, play areas, shops & comfortable cabin accommodation.

Getting Around Shetland

Once you are here, you will need a way around. Many are surprised at just how big Shetland is. Shetland is privileged to be well serviced by a network of buses and inter-island ferries that connects everything together. With services running right through the day, you have the flexibility of leaving early & returning late so you can spend the day sightseeing, visiting town or going wherever the light takes you!

You can find out more about the routes to and from Burra & Weisdale on the local ZetTrans website.

Car Hire

It is often recommended to hire a car to get the full Shetland experience. This gives you the ultimate flexibility to go wherever and whenever you want to Shetland’s ancient landmarks, world renowned wildlife hotspots or into the town for a bite to eat.

There are a number of car companies in Shetland. This includes Bolts Car Hire, Grantfield & Star Rent A Car.

Fishers Croft

As you leave the Northlink ferry terminal, turn right and carry on out the road north towards Scalloway.

There is a junction just at the golf course for Scalloway and Burra so just follow the signs.

After crossing the Burra Bridge,  you will  get to the top of a steep hill, turn right and head for Hamnavoe. Halfway down another hill which goes to the shop and pier, turn left and Fishers Croft is at the top of that road.

As you leave the airport, head north to Lerwick and continue until you come to a left junction for Burra and Scalloway. Take this junction and continue and then head left to Burra.
